App name: DJ Cue
Android package name: com.djcue.app
Developer / operator: Strategic Edge Systems Ltd (“we,” “us,” or “our”)
Privacy contact: info@strategicedgesystems.com

This Privacy Policy explains how DJ Cue accesses, collects, uses, shares, retains, and deletes information when you use our mobile application on Android (and iOS, where available).

DJ Cue is a party companion app that connects to your Spotify account so you can privately preview songs and add them to a Spotify Connect room queue and a private “Tonight” playlist.

By using DJ Cue, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Summary

  • DJ Cue does not create its own user accounts or operate a DJ Cue cloud user database or marketing email list.
  • Sign-in is handled through Spotify. Subscription status is handled through Google Play / Apple and RevenueCat.
  • Auth tokens, free daily Add limits, and session preferences are stored on your device.
  • We use limited third-party services (Spotify, Deezer, Apple iTunes Search, RevenueCat, and the app stores) only as needed to provide core app features.
  • We do not sell personal or sensitive user data.
  • Network requests to our third-party APIs use HTTPS / TLS encryption in transit.

2. Developer information and privacy contact

Developer: Strategic Edge Systems Ltd
App: DJ Cue (com.djcue.app)
Privacy / support email: info@strategicedgesystems.com

You can submit privacy questions or data requests by emailing info@strategicedgesystems.com. Please include “DJ Cue privacy” in the subject line.

The developer named above is intended to match the developer identity shown on DJ Cue’s Google Play store listing.

3. Information we access, collect, and process

DJ Cue handles personal and sensitive user data only as needed for app functionality reasonably expected by users of a Spotify party companion app. That includes authentication information (Spotify tokens), account identifiers, playlist/library content you choose to use in the app, playback/device state, and subscription entitlement status.

3.1 Information from Spotify

When you choose to sign in with Spotify, we request permission to access certain Spotify account data needed to run the app, including:

  • Basic profile information (such as your Spotify user ID, display name, email address associated with Spotify, country/product type such as Premium status)
  • Your library and playlists (for example Liked Songs and playlists you choose as a cue source)
  • Playback and device information (available Spotify Connect devices, currently playing track, queue-related actions)
  • Permission to create or modify playlists (so we can create/append a private “Tonight” playlist when you Add a track)

We use this information only to provide DJ Cue features: authentication, Premium eligibility checks, room-device selection, cueing, add-to-queue, and Tonight playlist updates.

Spotify’s handling of your data is governed by Spotify’s privacy policy:
https://www.spotify.com/legal/privacy-policy/

3.2 Information stored on your device

DJ Cue stores certain data locally on your device using the platform’s secure storage mechanisms (Expo Secure Store / OS keychain-style storage), which may include:

  • Spotify access and refresh tokens (authentication information)
  • Your free daily Add usage count (for the free tier limit)
  • Session-related preferences and history needed to run Host mode (for example selected room device, cue source, and songs added during a session)

This on-device data stays on your device unless you clear app data, uninstall the app, or sign out (tokens are cleared on sign-out).

3.3 Subscription and purchase information

If you purchase or restore a subscription:

  • Payment is processed by Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS). We do not receive your full payment card details.
  • We use RevenueCat to manage entitlements (for example whether Unlimited Adds / Premium is active). We associate purchase status with your Spotify user ID so your entitlement can follow your Spotify account on that device/platform setup.
  • RevenueCat and/or the app stores may process device or other identifiers as part of normal purchase, restore, fraud-prevention, and entitlement flows.

Google’s privacy policy:

3.4 Preview matching requests

To play short private song previews, DJ Cue may send limited track metadata to third-party catalog services:

  • Deezer (typically an ISRC identifier) to resolve a short preview URL
  • Apple iTunes Search (typically song title and artist) as a fallback preview source

These requests are made solely so the app can stream a short preview to your phone/earpiece. We do not use those services to build a marketing profile about you.

3.5 Information we do not intentionally collect

DJ Cue does not currently:

  • Create a separate DJ Cue user account or cloud profile database
  • Sell personal or sensitive user data
  • Send marketing emails
  • Use advertising SDKs / ad networks for ads personalization
  • Collect precise location for advertising
  • Access contacts, photos, camera, microphone, SMS, call logs, or an inventory of other installed apps for core functionality

Device permissions used by the app are limited to what is needed for audio playback, background/lock-screen cueing where enabled, and normal app operation.

4. How we use information (limited use)

We limit access, collection, use, and sharing of personal and sensitive user data to purposes that provide DJ Cue’s core functionality and are reasonably expected by users:

  • Sign you in with Spotify and keep your session active
  • Confirm Spotify Premium eligibility required by the product
  • Let you choose a room speaker / Connect device and control queue adds
  • Show now-playing and candidate track information
  • Resolve and play short previews
  • Create or update your private Tonight playlist when you Add a track
  • Enforce free daily Add limits and unlock paid Unlimited Adds
  • Restore purchases and maintain subscription entitlements
  • Operate, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the app

We do not use this data for advertising networks, data brokers, or unrelated profiling.

5. Sharing of information

We share information only as needed to operate DJ Cue:

  • Spotify — auth tokens/requests and profile/library/playback data needed for API calls (authentication, library/playlist access, Connect devices, playback/queue, Tonight playlist)
  • Deezer / Apple (iTunes Search) — limited track metadata such as ISRC and/or title/artist (resolve short preview audio URLs)
  • RevenueCat — Spotify user ID and purchase/entitlement-related data (subscription entitlement management)
  • Google Play / Apple App Store — purchase and restore transactions (billing, purchases, restores)
  • Service providers / hosting — minimal technical data if we host this policy or support pages (publish this Privacy Policy and respond to support requests)

We do not sell your personal or sensitive user data.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights/safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (in which case we will take reasonable steps to require continued protection of your information).

6. Secure data handling

We use safeguards appropriate for a mobile app of this type, including:

  • Encryption in transit: communication with Spotify, Deezer, Apple iTunes Search, RevenueCat, and other HTTPS endpoints uses TLS / HTTPS.
  • Secure on-device storage: Spotify tokens and related sensitive local values are stored using platform secure storage (Expo Secure Store / OS-backed secure storage), not plain shared preferences where avoidable.
  • Limited access: we do not operate a DJ Cue backend user database that stores your Spotify library or tokens.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your account or device has been compromised, sign out of DJ Cue, revoke DJ Cue’s access in Spotify settings, and contact us.

7. Data retention

  • On-device Spotify tokens: retained until you sign out, clear app data, or uninstall.
  • On-device session preferences / local “Added tonight” history / daily Add counters: retained until cleared by you (sign-out, reset, clear data, or uninstall). Counters may reset on reinstall.
  • Spotify-side library, queue, and Tonight playlist content: controlled by Spotify under Spotify’s policies. DJ Cue does not host a separate copy of your music library.
  • Subscription / entitlement records: retained by Google Play / Apple and RevenueCat as needed to provide, restore, and prevent fraud related to purchases.

If we must retain certain records for legitimate reasons such as security, fraud prevention, accounting, or legal compliance, we will retain only what is reasonably necessary and for no longer than needed for that purpose.

8. Accounts and data deletion

8.1 No separate DJ Cue account

DJ Cue does not offer standalone DJ Cue account registration. You authenticate with Spotify. Because we do not create a DJ Cue cloud account, there is no separate “DJ Cue account” to permanently freeze or delete on our servers.

8.2 How to delete data associated with your use of DJ Cue

  1. In the app: use Sign out to clear locally stored Spotify tokens and end the local session.
  2. On your device: clear DJ Cue app storage and/or uninstall DJ Cue to remove remaining on-device data (tokens, local preferences, local session history, local free-tier counters).
  3. With Spotify: revoke DJ Cue’s access in your Spotify account’s connected-apps / privacy settings so the app can no longer access your Spotify data.
  4. With subscriptions: manage or cancel DJ Cue subscriptions in Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS). Store billing records remain governed by the store’s policies.
  5. Privacy request: email info@strategicedgesystems.com with the subject “DJ Cue data deletion” and, if possible, your Spotify display name or user ID. We will take reasonable steps to help with deletion of entitlement/identity records we can control (for example coordinating cleanup of RevenueCat customer association where applicable) and confirm what remains under third-party control (Spotify, Google Play/Apple).

Tonight playlists and other content created in your Spotify account remain under your Spotify account unless you delete them in Spotify.

8.3 Web / external deletion request path

You may also request deletion help outside the app by emailing info@strategicedgesystems.com. This published Privacy Policy page is the external resource for deletion and privacy requests.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, or to object to certain processing.

Practical controls:

  • Sign out in DJ Cue
  • Revoke Spotify app access
  • Clear app storage / uninstall
  • Manage or cancel store subscriptions
  • Email info@strategicedgesystems.com for privacy or deletion requests

If you are in the EEA/UK, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process personal data where needed to:

  • Perform our contract with you (provide the app features you request after you sign in)
  • Pursue legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, basic product operation), balanced against your rights
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Rely on your consent where required (for example certain optional permissions, or Spotify authorization you affirmatively grant)

11. International transfers

Third-party providers (including Spotify, RevenueCat, Deezer, Apple, and Google) may process data in the United States or other countries. Those providers are responsible for their own compliance with applicable transfer rules. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards and your affirmative authorization of the relevant third-party services.

12. Children’s privacy

DJ Cue is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact info@strategicedgesystems.com and we will take appropriate steps.

13. Third-party services

DJ Cue depends on third-party services. Their privacy policies apply to their processing:

We remain responsible for ensuring third-party code/SDKs used in DJ Cue are configured consistently with this Privacy Policy and Google Play Developer Program policies, including that personal and sensitive user data from the app is not sold.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. For material changes, we will take reasonable steps to provide notice (for example in-app notice or an updated store listing privacy policy URL). Continued use of DJ Cue after an update means you accept the revised policy, except where applicable law requires additional notice or consent.
